Comberbach Methodist Church
I was commissioned to create an almost exact replica of a specific piece of artwork for Comberbach Methodist Church, Cheshire. The artwork was first thought to have been done in 1887 but unfortunately the original had become too difficult to view being at such a great height at the top of the church. Much of the detailing was hardly recognizable due to the due to the varnish cracking and holding dirt and dust. More importantly the original plaster had sadly started to flake leaving the artwork impossible to save.
I was under strict orders that I must stay true to the original artwork and to create an almost exact replica to the original but allowing me to create my own version of flowers and blending the red scroll from maroon to bright red to create some depth to the scroll.
